Childhood Dreams/Adult Realities
One day my child came to me.
When Kellie grew up said she wanted to be.
A journalist so all the world could learn.
How to live in peace that would be her main concern.
Kellie studied her bible so she could see.
How to be the leader she wanted to truly be.
She became active in the International Order of Rainbow Girls.
Life meant more to her then just make-up and curls.
Kellie held the positions of Love, Religion, Drill Leader, Chaplain, Faith and Hope.
She was learning how to shine in life and how we manage to cope.
She had just been installed as Charity.
The benevolence one should feel towards humanity.
When God called Kellie home to be with him that day.
Leaving us all here wondering what to say.
I want to thank Him for allowing Kellie to touch my heart.
While her spirit was unleashed we're never really far apart.
Kellie understood more then some of us will ever know.
Her time was up God wanted her to go.
Home to live in the peace she studied to accept.
My mind drifted off as the others wept.
I wish others could have known.
What my child had knowledge of while she had grown.
Yes, her never ending smiles and bountiful hugs we will miss.
But, it is with her dreams and goals I would like to assist.
If we could all have the knowledge Kellie held in her heart.
Benevolence towards her fellowman just that part.
Peace would prevail on earth as was her main concern.
A child's legacy to us a lesson we should all learn.
